When I started to work on this article I was reminded of a guy I knew in my gym days. He liked to listen to some heavy
80’s rock in a very loud ear piercing volume to inspire him to lift hard. Fellow gym rats would literally be running
out the door holding their ears in agony. If the wind was right you could hear screaming electric guitars a block away and
that was with the door closed.
And when you got there and crack open the gym door dust was floating in the air from the thunderous music waves shaking
the rafters. And there he would be squatting away under a pile of iron on his shoulders.
It was his source of inspiration music that made him lift hard. Unfortunately his hearing really got bad from listening
to the deafening music.
Kinds of inspiring music.
Inspirational music comes in all flavors. It could be hard driving metal to soft classical. Some music energizes, some
relaxes you and some sparks your creativity. Music can put you in a good frame of mind and even out the rough spots of the road for you.
Music can take you into a different state of mind. Maybe when you hear a Beach Boy’s song it takes you back to your
youth and memories of warm sunny days on the beach with your school friends. Or maybe a Nirvana tune reminds you of your old
partying days.
It can also remind of something that happened in your past. Hopefully some nice things like hearing a song that was playing
while your lifetime mate asked for your hand in marriage reminds you of that special day. Or maybe a song that was playing
on the radio on a special road trip plays again in the background somewhere. It makes you reminisce about that carefree and
fun experience.
What is your inspiration music?
I believe the music that you choose to be inspirational depends on:
- What you want to accomplish or motivation.
- Time of day.
- Fits your type of personality.
- Types of music you like to listen to.
I like to listen to wood flute music when I want to clear my mind. The relaxing flow of melodies eases the tension of daily living for me. When I am relaxed I become more creative. Relaxation for me generates stimulation for creative thinking. Tension or too much stress wastes valuable energy. It robs
you of inspirational thoughts.
I like to also play a very mellow music CD when I go to sleep at night. It seems to open up my subconscious world and the
creativity continues to flow at night in dreams.
What works for one person for inspirational music doesn’t mean it will work for someone else. To buy a CD named "Inspirational
Music for Everyone" doesn’t mean it will work for you. To find your inspirational music you would have to look at the
four determining factors mention above and go over the music you like to listen to. Or maybe there is a new style of music
that would inspire you.
What you can do is try experimenting with different rhythms or beats. People tend to get stuck in a rut and have a hard
time getting out of it and music is no exception.
Maybe it is light rock that stirs your creativity and you don’t know that yet until you start to experiment with
different genres or styles of music. Listening to tribal drums could help you open up your creativity on the canvas if you
are a artist. The point here is that you never know until you try it.
Sometimes the creative juices seem to disappear and you try hard with no results to get them back. Sometimes finding the
right kind of inspirational music can help you get the creativity in you stirred up again.
May the rhythm rock your creative world.
