I hope you are enjoying the summer so far. The summer solstice has come and gone and the changing of the seasons will soon
be here. It has been somewhat dry in northern Wisconsin, the Chequamegon forest in my area is starting to show signs in the
wet lands.
But the spirit is still alive singing and touching in the soft winds.
I wrote these 2 broken verse poems for the Rain Dance and Harvest Moon tracks on the Harvest Moon flute meditation CD.
The Harvest Moon album features the Native American flute. I hope you like them.
Rain Dance. Thunderstorm in the Chequamegon.
Imagine standing under the canopy of a green forest. And the summer solstice just past. The early evening is warm with
a bit of night dew touching your face as you walk.
The crickets quit singing their love chant to their mates. And the night birds start to quiet down. Their instincts are
telling them a rainfall is coming.
Then in the distance a low rumbling can be heard. Thunderstorm sounds are echoing throughout the forest. You find cover to protect yourself.
As you wait, you listen to the low rambling sounds of the passing overhead. The gentle rain dancing on the green leaves
makes a beautiful song.
The Glowing of the Harvest Moon.
The Harvest Moon is hanging low in the heavens. Shining its shimmering colors in the cool autumn air.
A call of the loon is being sung as his last song while gliding across the lustrous glowing water.
Migrating geese fly overhead flapping their wings to a unison beat.
And the wind blows through the Eastern white pine trees speaking a voice.
With all its soul-stirring the spirits.
How I love the Harvest Moon.
Some thoughts
When I listen to Rain Dance I am reminded of how meditating listening to the rain drops falling on the Forest’s leaves
can be. A thundering rainstorm passing overhead can really speak to your soul.
In this crazy world of being a creative artist, you have a lot of ups and downs. I know I had my share.
So my affirmation has been "never say what’s the use, but what’s next" and move on to better things.
I hope you can use these words of positive affirmation for your own use.
