Change of blog page colors

I have just read an article named Web Designs Deadlist 4 Mistakes and the author started out the article with:

“A completely black background with light or white text superimposed upon it. Even the best web designers in the world have difficulty achieving an appealing look with this type of background. It gives viewers the impression that you are imperious and condescending and does not do anything to encourage readers to stay on your site”

Oh my I thought, my blog has a black background with white lettering.  I never thought of myself as imperious and condescending.  I used those colors because I thought it looked cool.

Anyway I switched the background and text colors to more of an earthy tone after reading the article.  I know sometimes the color black is known to be evil and dark.  Dark taken in the context of “exhibiting or stemming from evil “.   But when I think of black and traces of white I think of the night sky with the stars twinkling in the great vast nightly air.

The article also stated the following:

“A completely black background with dark words. This is an even worse background choice than the previous one because the words simply cannot be seen without great difficulty. In order to read the text, visitors to your site will have to first highlight the text, a task that will quickly irritate them”

Now that is a fact I completely agree with.  I have been to a few sites where I had to highlight the text just to read it.  I never understood why a person would want to do this.  It gets quite frustrating reading a page on a site with a black ground and dark colored words.

If I came across as imperious and condescending in my past posts, I apologize for it.
