Carrier oil properties and pure lavender essential oil.

Lately I have been massaging my feet at night before going to sleep with lavender essential oil.  Pure lavender oil is supposed to be a relaxant. The soles of your feet have a tough skin and make an excellent place to try new oils.

From what I learned, you must use carrier oil with the pure essential oil to reduce its potency.   Pure essential oils are very powerful and can really irritant your skin. Also some carrier oils have better properties than others.  For instance;

Almond oil-absorbs easily and keeps for a long time.  High in vitamin D.

Wheat germ Oil- has a strong smell.  Very good for healing and general healthy skin.

Soya Oil- high in vitamin E

Olive Oil-strong smell. Doesn’t mix well with essential oils.

Sunflower Oil-high in vitamin E

Grape seed Oil-good for oily skin.

Avocado Oil-rich in nutrients. Good for dry and aging skin types.

Hazelnut Oil-enters the skin with ease.

Jojoba Oil- high in vitamin E. Light oil.

Evening Primrose oil-Doesn’t keep long. Good for certain skin conditions. (Eczema)

Apricot Oil-very light in texture. Makes good oil for a dry face.

Peach Kernel Oil- very light in texture. Good for the face.

I guess a person must remember that the carrier oil along with the essential oil both absorbs into the skin.  So you should choose carrier oil that will benefit your skin type.  Personally I like to use Almond Oil myself.
